Innsbruck, 1 February 2009 - Sales revenues of phion AG, one of the
leading providers of solutions for protecting corporate
communication, were increased by 3.517 million Euros to 9.04 million
Euros in the first nine months of the financial year 2008/09 (+63.7 %
compared to last year´s period) The third quarter even produced a
growth rate of 135.2 % (4.05 million Euros, compared to 1.72 million
Euros in the previous year). These results make phion´s third quarter
2008/09 the most successful quarter by far in the company´s history -
despite the incipient recession and a sharply deteriorating business
environment. Results of the third quarter 2008/09 also show a
turnaround: EBITDA was 365,000 Euros, the operating results were
positive as well: after depreciation of 311,000 Euros, profit amounts
to 54,000 Euros. Profit before income tax (EBT) was 92,000 Euros.
Moreover, the 3rd quarter results were driven by cost discipline,
reflected clearly in a reduction of "Personnel expenses" and "Other
expenses".

By virtue of the results of the previous quarters, EBITDA for the
months 4-12/2008 amounts to -857, whereas EBIT was -1,795,000. Hence
it shows that, due to the results of the third quarter, especially
EBITDA could be improved considerably.

phion´s balance sheet total as at 31 December 2008 has increased by
almost 10% compared to the half year, equating to 21.97 million
Euros. The equity ratio of the company is 62%. We also managed to
increase the deferred income - meaning guaranteed future earnings -
again in the third quarter, which amounts to a considerable 3.88
million Euros as at 31 December 2008. The stable balance structure is
supported by a very low level of short-term as well as long-term
financial liabilities.

In its quarterly report, the management points out that the
integration of Visonys into the phion group - now fully completed -
has already proved to be an especially valuable asset.

Despite the extremely difficult current market environment, overall
insecurity and whether planned investments for new or updated
security solutions in the data and network area will be realised, the
management still expects phion´s second half year to be clearly
stronger than the first half of the financial year 2008/09.
