Changes in the Board of Executive Directors

At a meeting held yesterday, the Supervisory Board of K+S
Aktiengesellschaft extended the term of office of Norbert Steiner as
chairman of the Board of Executive Directors by a further five
years beyond its current expiry date of 11 May 2010. Mr Steiner
has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since May
2000 and became chairman of the Board of Executive Directors in
July 2007.

In addition, Jan Peter Nonnenkamp was appointed a new member of the
Board of Executive Directors of K+S Aktiengesellschaft. As of 1
June 2009, he will assume responsibility for finance, which was
hitherto headed by the chairman of the Board of Executive Directors
in personal union. Until now, Mr Nonnenkamp has held various
finance positions in companies operating in the consumer goods and
capital goods industries. Most recently, he was a member of the
Board of Executive Directors of Knorr-Bremse AG, Munich, and
responsible for finance, accounting and taxes.

Norbert Steiner,

Norbert Steiner was born in Siegen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in
1954. He graduated in law at the University of Heidelberg in
1980, subsequently completing his legal traineeship at the Higher
Regional Court, Karlsruhe. In 1983, he joined the central
department of taxes and customs at BASF AG. From 1988 onwards,
Steiner headed the customs and excise taxes department. In 1993, he
transferred to K+S Aktiengesellschaft, becoming head of legal
affairs, taxes and insurance. In May 2000, Norbert Steiner was
appointed to the Board of Executive Directors of K+S
Aktiengesellschaft and in January 2006, he became Vice Chairman
of the Board of Executive Directors. On 1 July 2007, Norbert

Steiner took the chair of the Board of Executive Directors of K+S
Aktiengesellschaft. His field of responsibility includes the Salt business
segment, finance, corporate development and controlling, legal affairs,
insurance, compliance, taxes, audit, investor relations as well as
communications. Norbert Steiner is married and has two sons.

Jan Peter Nonnenkamp was born in Bremen in 1963. Upon completing
vocational training in banking, he studied economics at the
private University Witten/Herdecke, graduating in 1990.
Subsequently, he held various finance positions at companies
operating in the consumer goods and capital goods industries,
including Fielmann AG as well as Leopold Kostal GmbH & Co. KG. Most
recently, he was a member of the Board of Executive Directors of
Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for finance, accounting and taxes: A
position he held since 2004. As of June 2009, he will be a member
of the Board of Executive Directors of K+S Aktiengesellschaft and
responsible for finance. Jan Peter Nonnenkamp is married and has
three children.
