The solar module manufacturer and system provider aleo solar AG is building up its business in Spain. The demand in this very important European market is growing rapidly. This week Gamesa Solar, a renewable energy company from Madrid, has placed an order for 11,000 solar modules with total power of more than two MW.
This order is a signal, said Christopher Dunne, new Director of International Sales for aleo solar, the order volumes are growing. The Spanish government since 2004 has supported renewable energy through the Royal Decree 436/2004. " By working with established players in the market we can most effectively create recognition for the aleo brand. Said aleo co- CEO Jakobus Smit. "With our international experienced sales leader Christopher Dunne will we be able to enter other southern European markets. Ricardo de Andres Cañas, Operations Manager for Gamesa Solar: " In aleo we have found a Partner with whom we want to build long-term business."
In 2007 will the solar module specialist aleo begin production in its own factory in Barcelona. With a capacity of 10 MW per year will it be one of the largest solar module factories in Spain. "This also gives us a presence on the Iberian peninsula" said Heiner Willers, co-CEO aleo solar. "The customers can visit our high quality production and we can offer better service from a local facility. We want to significantly increase our turnover in Spain in the coming years." Until the facility is completed aleo will deliver product from the factory in Prenzlau.

OLDENBURG/PRENZLAU, July 29, 2006. The solar module manufacturer and system supplier aleo solar AG wishes to substantially expand its international operations. To this end, the company has hired Christopher Dunne (43), an internationally recognised sales professional, as its Head of International Sales. The American born businessman is responsible for the activities of aleo in Southern Europe, particularly Spain and Italy, and also for the expansion of the business in Asia.
Christopher Dunne has been active in the field of renewable energy sources for years. From 1994 to 1998 he led the initiative for renewable energy sources in the State Parks of Colorado, USA. Later, he gained valuable international experience as a Sales Manager in many countries including Germany, the USA, and Singapore. From November 2000 to February 2004 the engineer worked for the solar company Astropower. Subsequently, Christopher Dunne was employed as Regional Manager in the solar division of General Electric in Freiburg, Germany. "He knows not only the complex European market, but also the South-East Asian and American markets", said Heiner Willers, Member of the Board of aleo solar. Among his areas of specialisation are the development and implementation of strategies in the growing European market and the marketing of solar products. "He is the right man for one of our most important tasks - our international operations."
The Company aleo solar AG (previously S.M.D.), with its sales and distribution facilities in Oldenburg (Lower Saxony) and manufacturing facility in Prenzlau (Brandenburg), was founded in September 2001, and manufactures solar modules based on silicon cells. Around 230 employees currently work at both locations. The manufacturing facility in Prenzlau has an annual capacity of 90 megawatts and is thus one of the largest solar module production sites. In 2005, the company achieved a turnover of 106.9 million euros. Since July 2006, aleo solar AG (DE000A0JM634) has been listed on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. By acquiring shares in the Brandenburg-based technology company Johanna Solar Technology GmbH, aleo solar AG has gained access to the promising future of thin-film technology.
