New tools from digital to analog Microform expands the options for digital, analog and hybrid archiving.

Waiblingen/Hanover (ots) - At this year's CeBIT in Hanover,
Microform GmbH will be placing its main emphasis on automated
capturing processes, with special attention being paid to intelligent
color detection and automated color control. In addition, new tools,
such as an edge enhancement algorithm for better visualization of
digital images and the QSI module with which images can be indexed,
checked and post-edited independent of the scanner hardware, provide
for even more security and convenience. As a specialist for digital,
analog and hybrid archiving, Microform will also be launching the
very latest product to come out of its development department, the FP
505 Film Processor, for economical, environment-friendly and reliable
developing of microfilms.

Efficient and reliable document capturing has long been a forte of
Microform GmbH. This is guaranteed not only by our high-performance
scanners but above all by our Best Image Quality concept: Microform
develops digital archiving equipment and functions to meet the
growing needs of users - so that we are always in a position to offer
the solutions the market currently requires and to set standards for
efficient scanning solutions. Microform's intelligent color detection
and automated color control functionalities in particular are ideal
for taking care of complex capturing processes. Complex, manual
sorting and preparatory work are eliminated, cost-intensive patch
code sheets are no longer required and security when using detection
technologies is greatly improved. What's more, Microform's scanners
are now equipped with a new edge enhancement algorithm that further
improves the visualization of images. This assists detection and
recognition technologies used downstream in the process and further
optimizes read rates and detection processes.

Another addition to the concept is the QSI module. QSI is taken
from the German "Qualitätssicherung- und Indexierung" and stands for
"quality assurance and indexing". As the name already reveals, the
module gives users the opportunity to index, check and post-edit
images - if needs be, at a separate workstation and detached from the
scanner hardware. "The QSI module is particularly suitable for highly
labor-intensive processes related to indexing and data acquisition,
image processing or the organizational procedures because it doesn't
have a negative effect on the high productivity of the scanner
hardware", explains Andreas Klinke, Marketing and Sales Manager at
Microform.

But the experts for digital, analog and hybrid storage systems
have by no means lost sight of the topic of long-term archiving. "Our
goal is to achieve economically sound and secure archiving,
especially over longer periods", says Klinke. He goes on to explain
that, "It is exceedingly important to take into account the
expenditure on migration a storage medium demands." The solution:
hybrid storage systems with which one can combine the flexibility of
digital media with the efficiency and archiving security of
microfilm. As a constituent part of this concept, Microform will be
presenting a new microfilm developing machine at CeBIT 2007, the
FP 505 Film Processor. This machine is a fully automatic, deep-tank
developing system with which the exposed film is transported directly
from the daylight cassette through the entire developing process.
"The FP 505 is an efficient production system that enables microfilm
to be used in an up-to-date and convenient manner - especially as a
backup solution", underlines Klinke.
