Pfaeffikon SZ, 31 August 2007 --- In the first half year of 2007
shaPE achieved continued solid results as illustrated by the 17.5%
increase in the Net Asset Value per share to CHF 286.28. The share
price gained during the same period 8.6% to CHF 264.00. The private
equity portfolio generated a gross investment income of CHF 47.5
million which resulted in a net income of CHF 43.1 million.

The successfully completed capital increase in January this year
enabled shaPE to selectively further develop the private equity
portfolio. During the reporting period the investment ratio increased
by 15 percentage points to 88% and collective new commitments totaled
CHF 137.7 million. Of this figure CHF 66.1 million relate to a
secondary transaction in June where shaPE acquired a diversified
portfolio with brand name private equity partnerships which were
basically launched between 2003 and 2005. In addition, shaPE made new
primary commitments of collectively CHF 71.6 million whereas the main
part was made to successor vehicles of existing fund managers of
shaPE. Furthermore, new commitments were made to private equity
managers in the distressed, special situations and Emerging Markets
space to take advantage from the development in these areas.

For the second half of the year shaPE anticipates to make five to six
additional commitments primarily to new funds of current fund
managers. With a view to the current situation in the financial
markets shaPE expects after several strong years a general slowdown
of private equity transactions and anticipates more moderate future
returns of the asset class.
