Walther Wever appointed management board chairman of CURANUM AG

In its meeting today, the supervisory board of CURANUM AG, Munich,
one of the largest private operators of senior citizen care
facilities in Germany, has appointed Mr. Walther Wever (54) as
management board member effective as of October 1, 2010, and as
management board chairman (CEO) of the company. Following the
dismissal of Mr. Bernd Rothe on September 3, 2010, Mr. Wever will
hold this post on an interim basis up to June 30, 2011. Commenting on
the appointment, supervisory board chairman Dr. Dieter Thomae stated:
"We made a well considered decision for this course of action. In Mr.
Wever we have succeeded in gaining an entrepreneurially minded
personality drawing on extensive management experience in the
industrial arena. We are confident that this appointment will mark a
major step for the positive future development of Curanum. The
supervisory board will now embark on the search for an appropriate
long-term candidate, without being subject to undue time pressure in
the process." Walther Wever was born in 1955 in Essen, and studied
law and economic science at the Universities of Freiburg and
Delaware, USA. On completing his studies, he worked for several years
as corporate counsel at VTG GmbH, Hamburg, and switched to the
controlling department of VARTA AG in 1987, where he was responsible
for finances in his last post as CFO. Following the sale of the
company to Johnson Controls Inc. Milwaukee (JCI), Walther Wever was
successfully active as board chairman of VARTA Automotive AG from
2002 to 2009. In his new functions at CURANUM, Mr. Wever will
contribute his extensive, in-depth experience in the successful
management and further development of personnel intensive
corporations, and also draw on his network in financial circles in
his position as interim manager. Walther Wever will be mainly
responsible for corporate management and strategy, mergers and
acquisitions as well as the investor relations area. "I look forward
to this new task scope that entails operational as well as strategic
challenges," as Wever stated. He went on to add: "I am optimistic
that we will return Curanum AG to the successful course the company
has charted over so many years." With the appointment of Mr. Walther
Wever as CEO, the management board now consists of three members
again, with Ms. Judith Barth active as CFO and Ms. Sabine
Merazzi-Weirich holding the position of COO. The management board and
supervisory board wish Mr. Wever every success and look forward to
fruitful cooperation.
