Tourneseul, a shining invention!

Saint Montan, Frankreich (ots) - The Tourneseul(TM), invented and
patented by Gérard Montel, is an automated, stand-alone device for
reflecting the sun's rays featuring a mirror which functions like a
sunflower. Its ability to find and follow the sun's position enables
it to redirect a quantity of light onto a given target. Having won an
award in 2002 as a prototype, the Tourneseul has garnered further
recognition with an award at Paris Concours Lépine 2011.

How it works

It's easy!

The Tourneseul does not require programming. It simply follows the
sun using an in-built sensor. It is supported by a simple structure
that allows the unit to rotate and reflect the light on a specified
target. As soon as a sufficiently strong ray of sunlight appears, the
cells move the reflective plate into place in less than a minute. The
plate then reflects the sun's rays towards a predetermined target
area. From then on the system automatically follows the sun's
movement, ensuring the light is constantly reflected onto the chosen
target.

A motor allows the mirror's rotation around the main axis pointed
at the target, and a jack retains the mirror's pitch by distorting
the isosceles triangle created between the sensor, the main axis and
the mirror.

Benefits of the Tourneseul

The Tourneseul simultaneously reflects the light and heat of the
sun: a 1m2 mirror supplies around 1000 W of energy (luminous and
thermal).

With it's ability to reflect heat to a fixed target, the
Tourneseul can be used for several thermal applications, including
heating and sea water desalination.

Furthermore, it is envisaged that a mini 25 KW solar power station
can be created using several Tourneseuls. The Tourneseul is now
commercialized, so professionals in the energy sector may wish to
examine the possibility of expanding such an operation to a larger
scale.

And finally...

The Tourneseul company has been conducting marketing in recent
months and now sells a variety of mirrors, round or square, ranging
from 80 cm to 125 cm in width.

We are also working on another concept/invention: a sun tracker
for small photovoltaic panels. This is at the early stage of
development, but we envisage its use for such diverse applications as
mobile homes and farm electric fences.
