Testo's SuperResolution technology allows the detection of the smallest thermal abnormalities of only a few millimetres, even at a distance of several metres

Lenzkirch, Germany (ots) - With measurement value number increased
by a factor of 4, and a geometric resolution improved by a factor of
1.6, the infrared images of the Testo thermal imagers show
considerably more details, thanks to the patent-pending
SuperResolution technology.

In all current thermal imagers, the technology manufacturer Testo
offers the possibility of recording thermographic images using the
patent-pending SuperResolution technology. With SuperResolution, the
usable, geometric resolution of the infrared image is improved by a
factor of 1.6 - with up to four times more measurement values. For
these high-resolution thermal images, which are conveniently
available in the analysis software on a PC, additional real
measurement values are recorded. This means that more thermal
information can be seen on each infrared image, and thermal
measurements can be conducted with more security. In practice, this
additionally means that the so-called "smallest measurable object"
becomes considerable smaller at the same distance between the
thermographer and the measurement object, meaning the smallest
details can be measured thermographically on far distant objects.

With SuperResolution, considerably better analysis possibilities
for thermographic recording in industrial maintenance, photovoltaics
or construction are presented - especially if very small or very
distant measurement objects need to be recorded thermographically. In
building thermography, the SuperResolution technology is excellently
suitable for visualizing inadequate insulation, cold bridges or
construction errors at a glance in the thermal image. Even when
recording large building sections from a distance, the high level of
detail allows construction defects to be detected, or energy losses
in the heating or air conditioning of buildings to be analyzed.
SuperResolution thermal images are thus excellently suitable for
error diagnosis and maintenance on interior rooms or building shells.

In preventive maintenance or production protection, defective
components, faulty connections or mechanical engine damage can be
detected from a safe distance using high-resolution SuperResolution
infrared recording. Thanks to the high image resolution, the thermal
image shows more relevant thermal details. This allows possible
production or system downtimes to be prevented with the
SuperResolution technology. In research and development, even the
tiniest structures can be resolved thermally. The targeted analysis
of heat distribution and development, e. g. on circuit boards, is
possible. In thermography on photovoltaic systems a large part of the
whole system can be measured even at far away distances. With the
thermal imager testo 890 and SuperResolution technology, infrared
images in megapixel quality can be recorded. This allows details up
to a size of 2 mm (so-called iFoVgeo with standard lens) for systems
at 3 m distance, or details up to a size of 3 mm (so-called iFoVgeo
with telephoto lens) for systems at 10 m distance, to be resolved and
analyzed in detail.

The Testo SuperResolution technology is available in all thermal
imager models of the series testo 875, testo 876, testo 881, testo
882, testo 885 and testo 890. Even cameras from these series which
have already been delivered can be retrofitted by a camera software
upgrade.
