- Transportation division with severe second-quarter loss, largely due to a
provision for damages claimed
- EBIT margin probably at 4-5 percent and hence well short of the lower end
of the forecast bandwidth of 6-8 percent
Contrary to expectations, the Vossloh Group's EBIT this year will not reach
the magnitude of 2012 but remain well below. Vossloh's H1/2013 EBIT was
significantly down year-on-year and its group earnings turned red. A key
reason for this downturn is an additional provision in a double-digit
million magnitude for damages claimed in a lawsuit involving the
Transportation Systems business unit. Moreover, ongoing delays of certain
projects at the Transportation division are weighing on sales and EBIT
trends.
In all, Vossloh forecasts the growth of its 2013 sales to reach about 5
percent and hence remain at the lower end of the originally budgeted
bandwidth of 5-10 percent. For its EBIT margin, the Vossloh Group had
predicted a range of 6-8 percent, depending on rail fastener shipments in
China and how work progresses on major projects in the Transportation
division. The EBIT margin for 2013 is now forecast at 4-5 percent. On July
25, 2013, Vossloh will publish its 2013 semiannual financial report.
