FRA's Passenger Volume Continues to Grow Noticeably by 5.9 Percent
in September - Positive Performance for the First Three Quarters
FRA/rap - Frankfurt Airport (FRA) continues to register noticeable
growth in passenger traffic. Welcoming about 5.9 million passengers
in September 2014, Germany's biggest airport reported growth of 5.9
percent year-on-year and its strongest September in history.
Furthermore, FRA achieved a new daily record on September 26, 2014,
when nearly 214,000 passengers were served. On eleven other days,
Frankfurt Airport also exceeded the 200,000 passenger-per-day mark
during the reporting month.
FRA's cargo throughput (airfreight and airmail) in September 2014
remained constant at 178,667 metric tons compared to the previous
year. Aircraft movements decreased slightly by 0.2 percent to 42,452
takeoffs and landings - with over 400 flight cancellations due to
strikes. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) rose by 2.5
percent year-on-year to more than 2.6 million metric tons. The total
number of aircraft seats offered, as well as seat-load factors, and
the number of passengers per aircraft movement reached new historic
peaks in September 2014.
For the first nine months of 2014, Frankfurt Airport received more
than 45.6 million passengers, a gain of 3.2 percent year-on-year.
During the first three-quarters, FRA handled about 1.6 million metric
tons of cargo (up 2 percent), while MTOWs climbed to about 21.9
million metric tons (up 2.2 percent). Aircraft movements from
January-to-September 2014 declined slightly by 0.1 percent to 357,016
takeoffs and landings.
The airports in Fraport AG?s international portfolio also reported
strong results for the first three quarters 2014. Peru's Lima Airport
(LIM) welcomed 11.6 million passengers (up 4.9 percent). In September
2014, LIM's passenger traffic rose by 7.2 percent to about 1.3
million. Combined, the Bulgarian Twinstar airports of Varna (VAR) and
Burgas (BOJ) saw traffic rise by 2.8 percent to a total of 3.8
million passengers in the first nine months of the year (September
2014: more than 515,000 passengers, down 4.8 percent). With 23.4
million air travelers, Turkey's Antalya Airport (AYT) reported 5.9
percent growth (September: 3.7 million passengers, down 2.6 percent).
Traffic at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport (LED) in Russia
advanced by 12.2 percent year-on-year to more than 11.3 million
passengers (September: 1.4 million passengers, up 9.9 percent).
Xi?an Airport (XIY) in China grew by 10.4 percent to 21.8 million
passengers (September: 2.6 million air travelers, up 11.2 percent).
With four million passengers, traffic at Hanover Airport (HAJ) in
northern Germany slipped by 0.2 percent. However in September 2014,
traffic at HAJ rose by 4.8 percent to 587,070 passengers
year-on-year.

system. In Europe, Frankfurt Airport ranks first in terms of cargo
tonnage and is the third-busiest for passenger traffic. With well
over 50 percent of all passengers using Frankfurt as a connecting
hub, FRA also has the highest transfer rate among the major European

a single location, employing more than 78,000 people at some 500
companies and organizations directly on site. Almost half of
Germany's population lives within a 200-kilometer radius of the FRA
intermodal travel hub - the largest airport catchment area in Europe.
FRA Airport City also serves as a magnet for other companies located
throughout the economically vital Frankfurt/Rhine-Main-Neckar region.

networked expertise, and outstanding intermodal transportation
infrastructure, FRA's world route network enables Hesse's and
Germany's export-oriented businesses to flourish in global growth
markets.
Frankfurt Airport meets the increasing needs of the flourishing
export-oriented economies of the State of Hesse as well as Germany as
a whole, for optimal connections to growth markets around the globe.
Likewise, FRA is also a strategic gateway for companies wanting to
access the huge European marketplace. Thus, Frankfurt Airport - which

important hubs in the world and a key infrastructure site for Germany
and Europe.
Major new real estate developments - such as The Squaire, the

evolving Frankfurt Airport City of the 21st century.
