Morningstar takes energy storage and solar professional at InterSolar Europe

Munich (ots) - With over 4 million products sold over its 25+
years, the US-based innovator turns its attention to advanced battery
technology as well as new solutions and products for demanding
applications.

At the world's largest solar event, Morningstar Corporation will
display an initiative that combines the brand's considerable
expertise in solar charging technology-over a quarter-century as an
industry leader-with the most advanced battery brands and
technologies in the business today.

Called the Energy Storage Partners program, or ESP, the
Morningstar initiative makes it easier for solar professionals to
spec and design lithium batteries into new systems, or drop them into
and upgrade existing ones. "ESP eliminates the uncertainty and
'lithium anxiety' installers have, by doing their homework in
advance" explains Morningstar's president Lee Gordon. "With ESP,
solar professionals and their clients have a much wider range of
storage options available beyond traditional lead-acid."

With ESP, the critical settings required for switching a system's
electronic control over to lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry
are determined in advance, between Morningstar and the battery brand
partner. Continues Gordon, "Installers no longer have to 'ping pong'
between a battery company and a solar system component maker to get
the information they need-ESP provides it up-front in verified
documentation. All the installer has to do is access that for each
battery free of charge, saving them considerable design and set-up
time. And most important, saving them from additional work later,
because the lithium-based system is right the first time."

Starting with the forefront brands Discover Battery, NEC Energy
Solutions, PowerPlus Energy Solutions, RELiON, and SimpliPhi Power,
the Morningstar program has expanded to include best-in-class global
battery manufacturers Trojan Battery, Pylon Technologies, Dragonfly
Energy, KiloVault, Blue Planet Energy, Battle Born Batteries, Iron
Edison Energy, genZ, Sentry and Lithium Werkes BV.

Along with innovation in energy storage Morningstar is building
new key features and performance into its existing product line, to
meet the requirements of mission-critical users. Morningstar's
Ethernet Meterbus Converter (EMC) provides data and communications
for solar charging components in systems. It currently supports a
range of protocols including HTTP for locally-served dashboards and
MODBUS for high-speed monitoring and control, and will soon include
SNMP to provide system operators with remote monitoring and data
services. "SNMP, or Simple Network Management Protocol, is an
internet standard used to manage devices on an IP network and vital
to the telecommunications industry" explains product director Brad
Berwald. "With SNMP on-board our EMC, industrial customers will be
able to access their remote solar-powered systems using network
management systems already integrated into their existing IT
infrastructure, saving cost and reducing complexity."

In new products, Morningstar's revolutionary MultiWave
high-frequency inverter/charger is moving from the beta testing stage
into production. Notes president Gordon, "We 'aimed high' getting
into a game-changing inverter platform, carefully and deliberately
leveraging our expertise in advanced software design and thermal
management-and the response from our first users tells us we've
greatly exceeded all expectations. For us and for them, that's worth
the wait for 'the Morningstar of inverters.' We're now moving
full-speed ahead in an on-line, accredited training program
specifically for MultiWave based on the demand evidenced during our
thorough development and testing."

Looking forward to using solar to bring electricity to the one
billion people on the planet presently without it-- and another
billion with an unreliable supply-- Morningstar has partnered with
Italian electrical company Tozzi Green in the largest off-grid rural
electrical project in history. In Peru, some 200,000 homes without
electricity are now being wired with Tozzi's "DC Energy Box," a
simple, turnkey solar system co-developed and manufactured with
Morningstar. These self-contained solar-powered systems are complete
with panels and a sealed, high-tech battery, and provide sufficient
electricity to transform rural homes with lighting and phone charging
for the first time.
