Anti-theft solutions for photovoltaic installation

Tiggiano, Italy (ots) - For some time now, MARSS deals with the
theme of security in photovoltaic, against the unlawful acts of third
parties, theft in the first place.

The photovoltaic panels are, in fact, a good included in the list
of crimes from same years, with hundreds of cases and tens of
thousands of pieces stolen every year. Object of attention from the
crime are, surely, the installations located in remote areas and not
guarded continuously (think parks photovoltaic, installations on
public buildings or farms, etc.), but there are cases of thefts made
in towns. It is usually stolen on commission, and in most of the
cases, the stolen panels are intended to take the path of African and
Eastern Europe countries. An interesting aspect, are the "repeated"
thefts against the same plant, even when equipped with alarm systems:
it confirms the fact that there's a lot of talk about the safety of
photovoltaic plants, but it is easy to say, and hard to do!

There are many difficulties in properly managing the security of a
photovoltaic installations, starting from the architectural and
environmental context, which always don't make easy the installation
and operation of the more traditional burglar systems, as well as the
simple monitoring through a system of video surveillance.

Based on its experience in the field of security, and starting on
a deep study of the photovoltaic world, MARSS has launched, from some
time, the research of security solutions, dedicated to the protection
of photovoltaic panels, of whatever kind and wherever installed. The
result, today, is Solar Defender, well known to industry insiders,
which opens a new "road" in the security technology dedicated to
photovoltaic, thanks to the integrated use of the Optical Sensors and
the Plastic Optical Fiber.

The system, patented, allows to compose different security
solutions, that fit the installation context, solving all the
problems mentioned above. Thanks to Solar Defender, the user can
optionally protect the single panel, single panel arrays and at the
same time also the fence of the system: all in a modular way, and
without problems of costly false alarms and onerous maintenance
interventions.

The available data, also confirm us, that most of the thefts occur
during the phase of installation of the panels and during the
maintenance operations (cleaning, gardening, substitutions, etc.):
Solar Defender operates independently of the PV system, and once
activated can not be disabled. For these features, it can be
activated already at "building site" and provides H24 protection,
even during the maintenance operations.
