ATERSA, the only manufacturer in the world with Verified TES

Valencia, Spanien (ots) - Recently, quality control equipment
called TES has been installed in the photovoltaic module production
line in ATERSA's factory in Almussafes (Valencia) using high-power
LEDs.

The system has been fully designed by ATERSA's R+D department and
is installed in the automated production process just before the
laminator stage, when it is still possible to replace cells that may
have quality defects. In this way ATERSA ensures the production of
modules that are free from defects. It is a system exclusive to
ATERSA that checks 100% of pre-laminated modules.

It only uses the module's two output contacts; using an algorithm
for light variations and combinations for each cell (which is
possible thanks to the LEDs) along with a rapid system for measuring
I/V curves, it obtains the electrical data for each individual cell.
With the electrical data for the curves of each cell it is possible
to confirm that the cell is free of defects, or, in the event that it
does have a defect, remove it from the pre-laminated unit so that it
will not end up in a manufactured module. In this way, modules with a
high-quality guarantee are obtained.

The potential defects detected by the Verified TES which are
eliminated from the ATERSA production process are:

-       Hot Spots.
-       Cells with low relative power.
-       "Cold" or inactive cells.
-       Cells with different strengths.
-       Erroneous connection of strings.
-       Short circuits in internal connections.
-       Micro-shorts in cracked cells.

The equipment consists of a "table" the size of an ATERSA 72-cell
module, covered by glass, beneath which are installed 4kW of
high-efficiency LEDs (130 lm/W). Under each cell there is a control
that switches on, with a specific luminosity, only those LEDs that
light up said cell with consistent uniformity and without interfering
with the other cells.

A communication system controls the luminosity of each of the 72
cells, according to an established pattern that is synchronised with
the measurement system and which yields the individual electrical
data for each cell. Together, they perform 250 luminosity variations
in just 10 seconds. This Verified TES measurement system is patented
by ATERSA (200931129) and is the only one of its kind in the world.
Both the test result and the individual values of each cell are
displayed on a computer screen, thus facilitating the collection and
use of data.
