Oberhausen (euro adhoc) - Oxea, the international chemical company,
today announced that it is one of the first in its sector to have
received certification from KPMG Cert for its energy management
system in accordance with the new international standard ISO 50001.
Oxea's energy management system helps the company to conduct its
business more sustainably, to continue reducing its energy
consumption, and to employ its resources more efficiently. Although
the certification applies initially to the Oberhausen site, the other
Oxea production sites in Europe have already been included and can be
certified during the next audit. The new ISO 50001 standard goes
beyond the requirements of its predecessor, DIN EN 16001, and will
replace it toward the end of April 2012.

"At Oxea we incorporated an efficient energy management system in our
Integrated Management System (IMS) from the very beginning. This
enabled us to begin the certification process early," said Dr.
Günther Becker, Director Quality Management at Oxea. Working closely
with the highly motivated teams in our manufacturing and technology
units, we prepared ourselves thoroughly for the certification by
carrying out internal audits. This successful outcome is our reward
for all the work we have put in over the past six months", he added.

"This new certification is a reflection of our commitment to energy
management. Active energy, environmental and quality management was
an essential part of our corporate policy from the outset," said Dr.
Martina Flöel, spokesperson of the Executive Board and responsible
for production and technology at Oxea. "We already make very
efficient use of our available energy resources and try to reduce our
impact on the environment whenever possible. Every year, for example,
we save about 30,000 metric tons of carbon emissions just by feeding
the waste heat from Oxea production facilities into the Oberhausen
district heating network. When drawing up plans for new plants, we
always make sure we can use our waste heat in a similar way," Flöel
continued.

Oxea is a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and oxo
derivatives, such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty
esters, and amines. These products are used for the production of
high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical
products, flavorings and fragrances, printing inks and plastics. In
